I resigned from my job in July 2022.
Before I resigned, I was able to submit an initial requirement to inform SSS of my pregnancy. Therefore, my employer submitted my Maternity Benefit 1 requirement, that is, proof of my pregnancy. I submitted to our HR office my TVS or transvaginal scan when I was around 8 weeks pregnant.

By August 2022, I went to the nearest SSS office and did the following:
Request for a computation of my maternity benefit.
Request to change my status from employed to self-paying (voluntary) member.
Ask for guidance on how I can process my maternity benefit after giving birth.
Here are the steps given to me by the SSS officer so I can process my maternity benefit and receive the computed amount:
1. Pay August 2022 as voluntary.
2. Encode bank details via SSS online Republic of the Philippines Social Security System (sss.gov.ph).
3. File maternity benefit (after giving birth) via SSS online Republic of the Philippines Social Security System (sss.gov.ph). Must attach the following:
Certified True Copy of baby’s Birth Certificate, and
Certificate of Employment or Certificate of Separation indicating if there is an advance payment or no advance payment received.
I accomplished #1 immediately after my transaction at the SSS office. #2 and #3 I accomplished after giving birth, actually late, I was 6 months postpartum at the time.
